The best starch is from Moravia in Germany – it’s permanent, they call it Superstarch.  I use it a lot.  You can apply it while your piece is still pinned to the pillow, but I prefer to re-pin my piece on a piece of polystyrene covered in Contact.   You mix up a small amount 50/50 with water, and use a paint brush to apply it sparingly, small area at a time, to your lace, blotting with Kleenex as you go.  You can dry with a hair dryer for immediate use of the lace.  Website is www.ateliermb.ch, online shop.
